Sulforaphane is formed when the precursor glucoraphanin, found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, is hydrolyzed by the enzyme myrosinase. This reaction occurs when plant tissue is damaged, such as through chopping or chewing, allowing glucoraphanin and myrosinase to come into contact. The hydrolysis of glucoraphanin by myrosinase results in the production of sulforaphane, an isothiocyanate with various health benefits.
Mix into 2 ounces of cold fruit juice, stir thoroughly and let sit for 1 minute. Drink within 60 minutes.
